Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport is an international airport serving the city of Izmir, Turkey. Located approximately 14 km south of the city center, it sits within the Gaziemir and Menderes districts. The airport is named after Adnan Menderes, who served as Turkey's Prime Minister between 1950 and 1960.


History and Technical Specifications


The foundation of the airport was laid in May 1984, and it opened on November 17, 1987. When it first opened, it was Turkey's second-largest airport after Istanbul Atatürk Airport. Covering a total area of 136,199 square meters, the airport has two runways, each 3,240 meters long. In 2023, it served 10,556,199 passengers, making it Turkey's fifth busiest airport.
